  • Journal Entry #14 - Create a T-chart. Label the left side "PROS" and the right side "CONS." Leave a space at the bottom of the page for "OTHER." Transfer your margin notes from the article into your chart.
  • With a partner, read and annotate the article "Get Off the Couch and Play" [PDF]. The purpose for reading is to find arguments for and against competitive sports for kids. We're also looking for interesting information to add to our notes and for things that surprised you.
    HW: Finish class work, if necessary. Catch up on absent or missing work, which is due Friday.

  • Notice and Note Big Question #3: What challenged, changed, or confirmed your thinking?

We're also looking for interesting information to add to our notes and for things that challenged, changed, or confirmed our thinking. **Note: We didn't have time to get very far with this, so we will continue working on it tomorrow.
    HW: Catch up on missing, absent, and re-do work from last week and this week. Due Friday.

We're also looking for the 3 Big Questions: 1) What surprised us? 2) What does the author think I already know? and 3) What changed, challenged, or confirmed my thinking?

  • Start reading and annotating "Pushing Too Hard Too Young" [PDF]. We'll be using sticky notes, since you can't write on the article.
  • Journal Entry #17 - Make a PROS/CONS/OTHERS chart. Place sticky note annotations in the correct columns on your chart.
    HW: Read your Independent Reading book for 30 minutes. Make an entry in your Reading Response Log. Reading Response Logs are due Friday. No late logs will be accepted.
